Birmingham Bloomfield Credit Union’s story began more than 80 years ago with a group of teachers.
This legacy of people helping each other make smart decisions about finances is very much a part of who we are today. Birmingham Bloomfield Credit Union is a member-owned, not for-profit, financial cooperative that was formed to encourage savings by offering a fair return on members’ savings. The Credit Union then used those savings to make loans to other members at competitively low interest rates. Birmingham Bloomfield Credit Union has maintained its strong financial stability and has proven that the convenience and service provided under the cooperative, member-owned and market driven philosophy results in the most safe, secure and successful means of providing financial services.

"I opened my first ever checking account with BBCU in the 90’s as a college student because my mother was a member at BBCU (then, Birmingham Teachers Credit Union). In 2006 I also became a business account holder. BBCU is all I know and it is all I ever needed to know because it is a full service banking institution, or, banking family, as I like to put it. I cannot think of a single instance over the last two decades that I wasn’t able to speak to a live teller when I called, and I often rely on the great BBCU online banking system. Your bank was initially chosen by myself in 2010 for having one of the best interest rates for auto loans. When the partnership with your credit union began, I had no working knowledge of the people BBCU employed or expectations as to customer service. BBCU was strictly chosen due to its interest rate.
